Rainbow connection and forbidden subgraphs

چکیده
A connected edge-colored graph G is rainbow-connected if any two distinct vertices of G are connected by a path whose edges have pairwise distinct colors; the rainbow connection number rc(G) of G is the minimum number of colors such that G is rainbow-connected. We consider families F of connected graphs for which there is a constant kF such that, for every connected F-free graph G, rc(G) ≤ diam(G)+ kF , where diam(G) is the diameter of G. In this paper, we give a complete answer for |F| ∈ {1, 2}.

متن کاملOn forbidden subgraphs and rainbow connection in graphs with minimum degree 2
A connected edge-colored graphG is said to be rainbow-connected if any two distinct vertices of G are connected by a path whose edges have pairwise distinct colors, and the rainbow connection number rc(G) ofG is the minimum number of colors that can make G rainbow-connected. We consider families F of connected graphs for which there is a constant kF such that every connected F-free graph G with...
متن کاملOn the rainbow connection of Cartesian products and their subgraphs
Rainbow connection number of Cartesian products and their subgraphs are considered. Previously known bounds are compared and non-existence of such bounds for subgraphs of products are discussed. It is shown that the rainbow connection number of an isometric subgraph of a hypercube is bounded above by the rainbow connection number of the hypercube. Isometric subgraphs of hypercubes with the rain...
متن کاملVertex Colorings without Rainbow or Monochromatic Subgraphs
This paper investigates vertex colorings of graphs such that some rainbow subgraph R and some monochromatic subgraph M are forbidden. Previous work focussed on the case that R = M . Here we consider the more general case, especially the case that M = K2.
متن کاملForbidden Subgraphs for Planar Blict and Blitact Graphs
Many graphs which are encountered in the study of graph theory are characterized by a type of configuration or subgraphs they possess. However, there are occasions when such graphs are more easily defined or described by the kind of subgraphs they are not permitted to contain. Such subgraphs are called forbidden subgraphs. In this paper, we present characterizations of graphs whose blict and bl...
